Charles Goodwin Clager, Sr., age 95, died August 13, 2010. Born October 10, 1914 in Morgan Co., OH son of the late Frank and Martha. Also predeceased by a sister, Verona Schneider. Survived by wife of 69 years, Mary Ann Doyle Clager; children, Charles (Joy), James (Val) and Mary Ann Thomas (Jeff); brother, Frank Clager; sister, Martha Frye; grandchildren, Charlotte Schwartz, Tyrone, Aaron, Nate, Rose, Natalie Clager, Laurie and Michael Georgenson; great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Caitlin and Naomi; many nieces and nephews and longtime friends Ed and Eleanor Roeske. Charles graduated from St. Charles Preparatory High School in 1933. He received his BA and Masters in Education from The Ohio State University. He served as Chief Petty Officer in the US Navy during WW II, stationed in Bainbridge, MD. He taught school in Rising Sun and Woodville, OH but was a science teacher and football coach for Worthington middle schools most of his teaching career. He was a longtime employee of Beaver Press. Most importantly, he was a good man, loving husband, father and grandfather and will be sadly missed more than words can say. He hungered for knowledge and loved all creatures great and small. Friends may call Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME 403 E. Broad St. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday 1:00 p.m. at Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel 6440 S. High St. Burial St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers friends who wish may contribute in his memory to Citizens for Humane Action Animal Shelter 3765 Corporate Dr. Columbus, OH 43231.
