PEPPER
Paul Milton Pepper, age 101 of Columbus passed away August 25, 2010 at the Laurels of Norworth. He was born May 16, 1909 in Kendallville, IN to the late Byron and Louisa Pepper. He was also preceded in death by his first wife Nellie Pepper (1998); brothers, Carl, Theodore, and Foster Pepper, sisters Ruth Young and Katherine Ivins. His survivors include his wife, Sue McClanahan-Pepper; son, Ronald P. (Beverly) Pepper; grandsons, Matthew J. (Julie) Pepper and Paul A. (Natalie) Pepper; great- granddaughters, Sarah Pepper – Hockman and her husband, Thomas, Ellen King and her husband, Alexander, Laura Graf, and Alexandra Pepper; great-grandsons, Isaac Pepper and Samuel Pepper; three great-great grandchildren, and sister, Faye Emrick. His college degrees include: A.B. 'With Distinction', A.M. (mathematics), Indiana University, Ph.D. (mathematics), University of Cincinnati. Recipient of Taft Teaching Fellowships and University Scholarships (U. of Cincinnati), and Research Fellow, Harvard University. His post-doctoral career included teaching one year at the University of Cincinnati, eleven years at the University of Notre Dame, and approximately twenty-five years of teaching and research administration at The Ohio State University. He was the author of Balanced Scheduling of Production Facilities and inventor, with U.S. and British slide rule patents. He has been Professor Emeritus of Industrial, Welding and Systems Engineering since 1974. Member of honorary societies: Phi Beta Kappa, Sigma Xi, Alpha Pi Mu and Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, 20 East Dominion Blvd., Columbus, OH 43214 where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 30, 2010. A family graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Vincennes, IN. Family and friends may call at the RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High St., Worthington, OH 43085 on Saturday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and again Sunday from 3:00-5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers you may contribute to Our Lady of Peace Church, The Ohio State University Development Fund on behalf of the College of Engineering, the Society of the Little Flower, or to your favorite charity.
