Robert Emory Martin Sr., 83 of Columbus, died Wednesday, August 25, 2010. He was born in Columbus on December 19, 1926 to the late Terry Sheets and Pearl Martin. He was a graduate of Columbus North High School, a veteran of WWII, training war dogs and serving in the Marines, Navy and Army. He was a heavy equipment operator, and an avid gun and knife collector. He loved to work crossword puzzles everyday in the Dispatch, loved to play Euchre and always had a joke to share. He is preceded in death by his parents, step father Herman Leibold, ex wife Nancy Martin, a half brother. He is survived by his loving companion of twenty plus years Beverly J. Herrnstein, six children Robert (Peggy) Martin Jr, Phyllis (George Stone) Martin, Deborah (Don Darst) Martin, David (George Williams) Martin, Thomas Martin, Richard (Jill) Martin, twelve grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, two half sisters. Family will receive friends Tuesday from 11 AM – 1 PM at SCHOEDINGNER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 N. High St., (1/2 mile south of I-270). Entombment will be held at 1:30 PM at Union Cemetery Mausoleum.
